Film developing prices in the UK
Film pricing is confusing because every lab bundles it differently. Below are our current per-roll prices, straight from our till system — the same whether you walk into our Cardiff shop or post your rolls in — plus a checklist for comparing any UK lab fairly.

How to compare UK labs fairly
Headline per-roll prices rarely tell the whole story. These are the six things worth checking before you send film anywhere — including to us.
Is scanning included, and at what resolution?
A cheap develop-only price plus a scan upgrade can end up dearer than an all-in price. Check the pixel dimensions, not just the words 'high res'.
What does it cost to get the files at full size?
Some labs deliver small web JPEGs and charge again for full-resolution files. Ours are downloadable from your gallery at no extra cost.
Postage — one way or both?
Count outbound postage and negative return. A lab that is 50p cheaper per roll can cost more once return postage is added.
Who actually processes the film?
Plenty of high-street services send film out to a third party. Ours is developed and scanned by our own team in Cardiff.
How long are your scans kept?
Ask how long the gallery stays live and whether re-downloads cost money later. Ours stay in your portal, with optional long-term premium storage.
Prints and reprints later
Check per-print prices and whether you can reorder from stored scans without paying for a re-scan.

Price questions
How much does it cost to develop a roll of film in the UK?
Most UK labs price per roll and charge separately for scanning. Our current per-roll developing and scanning prices are listed on this page and are the same in store and by post, so you are not charged extra for ordering online.
Why do lab prices look so different?
Because the bundles differ. One lab's headline price may be develop only, another's may include low-resolution scans, and return postage, high-resolution files, prints and long-term storage are often extra. Add up develop + scan resolution + postage both ways before comparing.
Is postal film developing more expensive than dropping film in?
With us the developing and scanning prices are identical — the only difference is postage. If you are near Cardiff you can drop rolls at 14–16 Morgan Arcade and skip postage entirely.
Do I have to pay extra to download my scans?
No. Every order lands in your own online gallery and full-resolution downloads are included. Premium storage (£5.99/month) is optional and only adds long-term archiving, unlimited gallery storage, a phone light meter and extras like a 5% print discount.
Do I get my negatives back, and does that cost more?
Negatives are always yours. In store you collect them free. By post you can add return postage at checkout, and if you also order prints your negatives travel in the same parcel at no extra cost.
Is there a minimum order for postal developing?
No minimum roll count. You pay online first, get a unique parcel reference, then send however many rolls you like in one package to keep postage costs down.
